Music

In music we all were preparing for our winter concert. Now we are going to research about sixth grade. Then we are going to be doing a little bit of our recorders. The one thing that we look forward to is the visit from middle school music teachers. They will be coming in to talk about  band choir general music.

Dressing for Cold Weather
Its already after Christmas break and it isn’t June, it’s January. While you're taking your Christmas stuff down why don’t you start to get out your snow gear? It is super cold this year so be sure to have hat, gloves, warm coat, boots.  Snow pants will help keep you warm and dry and are required if you are playing in snow.
As you know it is that time of the year when the snow is coming down on us. You don’t want to go home all soggy. Your parents will yell at you and no more phone. By: Jacob K., Luke L.

Science

Our Motion and Design unit was finished up before break. Our next science unit is Ecosystems where we will build aquariums and terrariums!

Social Studies
We are learning about the 13 English Colonies.
They are mostly along the east coast.  The 3 regions are New England, Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies. People from a lot of different countries (not just England) came the the New World for many reasons.  Religion and seeking a new life and making money are the main reasons most groups came .

Soon we will learn why and how the  American Colonies went to war with the English!

               Art

By: Mallory Spates and Carolee Graf
   In art we have been doing a style of art called Fauvism (wild beasts). Which is using bright colors unusual colors, an example of Fauvism is the sky won't be blue maybe it will be pink, and the grass won’t be green it might be red. Every fifth grader is making a picture of a vacation and painting with watercolors!!!! :}
Dribbling into Gym
In December, for gym we worked on rock climbing with a little bit of fun dancing with the x-box. We played on Just Dance. For rock climbing, it is good for you and it strengthens your core, or as you call it tummy muscles. It is not only good for you, but it’s fun.Your hands will also strengthen and turn red if used correctly.
For January we will be doing cross country skiing and basketball. Cross country skiing helps build your stamina, endurance and strengthens your specific running muscles. Basketball helps build your muscular endurance, stamina and strength. Mr. Bogacz also says that “cross country skiing is one of the best activities you can do because it works all muscles of the body, especially the heart. Article made by Rylee Miller and Willow Tanner News reporters.
Mathematics
In Stepping Stones we are learning how to subtract mixed numbers that require finding common denominators and require decomposing whole numbers!

The Holiday Concert
The glamorous, fifth graders bowed wiping joyous tears from their eyes, as their heart pounded like they had a metal hammer shattering their host’s rib cage, as they’re lunch felt like it was trying to escape up the slimy hoarse throats screamed for cold, clear water.
The fifth graders rocked Thursday December, 18th, as they brought the audience to their knees, and raised the roof, with the recorder ensemble’s Joy To The World, and, The First Nowell. The fifth graders blow the roof open with the fantastic show stoppers:  Suliram, O’ Holly Night, and last, but certainly not least  the ground-breaking, favorite: O’ How Lovely Is The Evening.
The choir did the ear-shattering drummer boy that would make Mary, and Joseph cry streams of proudness, especially  the fifth graders for that fantastic song.  The talented choir sweetly rocketed through GoodNight My Angel a slow, powerful song that brought tears like fast flowing streams to parents eyes.  The song was hard to accomplish for the choir, but their hard work payed off.
The song that ended the wonderful show was truly one of the favorites.  Silent Night.  The choir, and fifth graders were bone-tired at the end, but sparkled throughout the concert making each, and everyone of them the stars of the show.
The Hot Chocolate, and Hot Apple Cider stand was a huge success, thanks to the devoted student council for that.  The concert was amazing, and we thank each and every person who devoted their time, and money to be there.  Thank you so much, and have a magical day.
